Manifesto
Creativity is not a luxury – it’s an imperative. As countless pundits will tell you, capacity for differentiation – finding a market niche that is different from everyone else’s – is the only reliable strategic advantage.
But creativity is too important to be left to the creatives. There is no role in the information economy for a pure left-brain thinker, any more than there has ever been for a pure right-brain. The challenges are vast, as our educational system, organizational hierarchies, intellectual property laws, and social mythologies all conspire to turn creativity into the domain of the special few, rather than the many. This mentality is destructive and wrong-headed.
In truth, creativity is nothing more (and nothing less) than applying the spark of human intuition and reasoning to a problem. This blog explores the topic from a practitioner’s standpoint – to help readers learn to tap into creative thinking in every setting, and take it back from the so-called “creatives”.
